It calls for 1/4 cup chopped onion and I have no onions. So how much onion powder should I substitute for onion? Thanks.How much onion powder should I put in my soup?
1/3 cup chopped onion equals 1 teaspoon onion powder. I would still use 1 teaspoon, but 3/4 teaspoon would be a more accurate conversion.How much onion powder should I put in my soup?
I would start with 1/8 tsp up to like 1/4 tsp and mix thoroughly into the soup. Adjust more or less TO YOUR TASTE.
Recipes for soup are basically a guideline ingredient wise, not an absolute. I always adjust ingredients to my liking.
I'd start with a half a teaspoon (then taste) and add more in half teaspoon increments. My grandma always said ';you can always add more, but you can't remove it once it's in there';
Try one teaspoon - wait five minutes - taste.
If you cannot taste the onion at all, add a second teaspoon.
I would season it to my taste..recipes are not to be followed exactly on soups, I would just adjust it to how I wanted it
