How can I prevent my powder foundation from flaking?

I just bought Benefit's hello flawless powder and it worked perfect for a couple hours. But, I just noticed after awhile my skin around my mouth started to flake. My skin is dry already and it was flaking a little before I put the product. Is there anything i can do to solve this? How can I prevent my powder foundation from flaking?
Since your skin is dry, you shouldn't use powder foundation. Instead try cream or liquid. This post explains different foundation textures. It helps you pick the foundation for your skin type. Also, you should always moisturize before you apply foundation. Even if your skin is oily.

Before applying makeup, take a toothbrush (one you don't need for teeth brushing) and put some lotion on the end and lightly brush the areas that get flaky to remove any dead skin before you apply your makeup. Two to three times a week, exfoliate your face by mixing some sugar with a small amount of oil and gently rubbing it around your skin in circular motions. Rinse really well so you don't break out and make sure you cleanse and tone your face thoroughly afterwards!!! This will help remove dead skin also and prevent flaking. Also, mix your foundation with your moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer, which will help keep your face from drying up. In terms of long-term solutions to your dry skin, you need to start using skin care products specifically designed for dry skin. The cleansers, toners and moisturizers for dry skin help prevent flaking and provide your skin with the amount of moisture that it needs. You really need to use a foundation and concealer meant for people with dry skin, so make sure you look for a moisturizing, anti-aging or creamy foundation next time you go to buy. Don't use too much powder either-powder absorbs any oil on your face, which can contribute to dryness. If you must apply powder, lightly dust it all over, focusing on the places where your skin gets oily. Good luck!
you can try putting on a mosturizer on first then out in the foundation or put sum liquis foundation on first jus a little bit of it and then the powder foundation. but honestly i would get tru blend mineral powder foundation from cover girl. although if u have dry skin like the girl said itz gona dry ur skin even more so i would suggest liquid for u
exfoliate. its important to get rid of the dead skin cells first.

Since your skin is already dry, putting on the powder makes it even drier. Before putting on the foundation, moisturize your skin. You won't have this problem anymore.
