What is the white powder composed of which are formed near the crack on a lead acid battery?

I bought a maintenance free sealed lead acid battery which had a crack near the positive terminal. As the time passed white powder like snow started to form near the crack. I know that during charging a lead acid battery the water molecules are split into hydrogen and oxygen (when overcharged or at the end of charge) and h2so4 remain in the battery. I want to now that what are those white powder like snow and what they are composed of?What is the white powder composed of which are formed near the crack on a lead acid battery?
It麓s lead sulfate. Nasty, poisonus stuff...What is the white powder composed of which are formed near the crack on a lead acid battery?
