What is the white-ish colored powder usually found on the outside of a peice of gum?

What is the powder made of? And what is it for, does it serve a purpose?What is the white-ish colored powder usually found on the outside of a peice of gum?
It's fine flower or starch to keep the gum from sticking to the wrapper from humidity.What is the white-ish colored powder usually found on the outside of a peice of gum?
It's like hard core mint or something. Sometimes it does serve a purpose because some gum make your yellow teeth white!
Confectioners starch(sugar) or sweetened Marble Dust
I believe it's corn starch and powderdsugar. it keeps it from sticking to the paper.
to make it taste sweet, I dont know the name of it tho. I think its chicle and some powdered sugar.
