It is a mineral buildup from hard water. Add a few drops of vinegar and use the steam setting on an old towel. This should get rid of it. You might have to wipe some of it of the surface of the iron with a thick damp cloth while the iron is still hot. Be very careful.


When you are ironing, add a few drops of vinegar to prevent minerals from building up in your iron.
It is the lime that is in your water. Clean it with vinegar, and use a watersoftener...
