Will the filter itself remove this, or do I have to use another method to get it out?What happens if diatom powder gets in my water?
A little should be ok. Do a few water tests over the next week. If there are any changes in your PH (Which there probably won't be) then do a partial water change. That powder is supposed to be safe for fish.
